Are there age limits for any tours?

Yes. Our trips are for ages 18 and up.

Is airfare included?

Airfare is not included in the package price. Airfare is the responsibility of the participant.

Can I get more info on the trip?

Yes. All the info on our trips can be found on our website, instagram page @afokoadventures, and on the trip information flyers that we post frequently. You can subscribe to our email list for update and if you still have questions about a trip feel free to email or message us privately

How does payment work? Is there a payment plan?

We require our participants to pay a nonrefundable fee of $500 US to reserve a spot on our trip. The remaining balance should be cleared at least 30 days prior to the trip date.

What is the local currency in Ghana, and what do I need to know about it?

The local currency is the Ghana Cedi. You can exchange your currency at the forex bureaux at the airport, or at some commercial banks. Keep your receipt, and remember to convert any remaining currency back before traveling home.

Is it easy to travel around Ghana, and what are the best transport options?

Ghana has an excellent infrastructure, with one of the best road networks in western Africa. As such, the best way to travel is by road.

What's the climate like in Ghana?

Ghana’s climate is hot and humid throughout the year, though certainly less humid during the dry season of November to April. The rest of the year is classed as the wet season, and for those sensitive to humidity can be more difficult to travel in.

However, when traveling in the dry months, you need to be aware of the Harmattan – a hot Saharan wind that can make the atmosphere and terrain rather dusty.

When is the best time to visit Ghana?

The dry months between November and April are generally considered the best time to visit, largely because of the lower humidity and fewer mosquitoes. For those heading to Ghana’s north, it also means that the roads there will be in a better condition. November to April is also the best time to visit Ghana’s beaches.

Do you need a visa to visit Ghana?

Yes, and your passport needs to be valid for six months from the date of your visa application.

Do you need any vaccinations to visit Ghana?

Yes. Always speak to your doctor to find out the most up-to-date information on what you need, as well as any boosters that you might personally require. Malarial medicine and inoculations against yellow fever, cholera, typhoid and diphtheria are among those you are likely to need, as is the case with the majority of African destinations.

What is the climate of Tanzania?

The climate is tropical and coastal areas are hot and humid, while the northwestern highlands are cool and temperate. There are two rainy seasons; the short rains are generally from October to December, while the long rains last from March to June. The central plateau tends to be dry and arid throughout the year.

Do you need a visa for Tanzania?

The U.S. Embassy recommends that U.S. citizens obtain visas before traveling to Tanzania, but visas are also available at ports of entry upon arrival. A passport valid for a minimum of six months beyond visa issuance and/or date of entry, and at least one blank visa page is required.

Do I need vaccinations for Tanzania?

The government of Tanzania requires proof of yellow fever vaccination upon arrival if you are traveling from a country with risk of yellow fever (this does not include the US). Always speak to your doctor to find out the most up-to-date information on what you need, as well as any boosters that you might personally require. What is the climate of the United Arab Emirates?

Weather-wise, UAE  really only experiences two seasons: hot and hotter. In the summer, the weather is very hot, dry and humid, with temperatures reaching 45 °C (113 °F) for many days. During the winter months, the city sees blue skies and prime beach weather. The days are hot but the nights are cool. Therefore, the best time to visit Dubai is from November to May.

Do you need a visa for United Arab Emirates?

US citizens with a US passport that is valid for more than six months do not need to obtain a visa prior to entry to the UAE if the duration of their visit will be less than one month. This includes US citizens with visas or entry stamps from other countries in their passports.

Do I need vaccinations for United Arab Emirates?

No vaccinations are required for travel to Dubai. However, you may need vaccinations or other preventive medicines before you leave for Dubai, particularly if you are also visiting other countries in the region. See your doctor before you travel to ensure that there is time for your vaccinations to take effect.
